Group Learning Designed to Inspire Awareness and Answers
Children’s Groups on Communication and Learning
Jenny Burnsed has utilized her years of experience counseling children to create and hone dynamic and collaborative empowerment groups for children ages 7-12. These groups combine the latest research on mindfulness, neuroscience and child development to create an interactive platform for children to better understand themselves and their interpersonal relationships.
Parent Groups
Mrs. Burnsed offers an ongoing support group for parents of children with Sensory Processing Disorder. This group has been working successfully for the past 5 years, with members both new and continuing. The group is topic-oriented and allows time for parent support and interaction.
Topics vary per meeting, and have included: “What is SPD?” “Emotional Regulation (Strategies for Children and Parents),” “Expanding Your Child’s Emotional Toolkit,” “How to Help your Anxious Child,” “Mindfulness” and “Building Secure Attachment,” as well as others.
School Support and Consultation
Mrs. Burnsed’s vast experience as a School Guidance Counselor, Mental Health Prevention/Interventionist, and School-Based Therapist have made her quite familiar with the culture of schools. Her experience enables her to talk to teachers, counselors and other school staff on a variety of topics and challenges and help provide effective solutions on how to address them.
Mrs. Burnsed is available to consult directly with school faculty and staff on social/emotional learning and development and addressing mental health issues in schools. She is also available to offer Social/Emotional Groups in schools during and/or after school hours.
